Local retailer donates £600 to Heskin Pemberton Primary School

07/11/2011

The Nisa Local store of Wood Lane, Heskin, Chorley, has donated £600 to local school Heskin Pemberton C. E Primary School to help purchase new benches for the school children. The school had previously bought wooden picnic benches for the playground however, due to these being vandalised during the summer holidays, the school decided to invest in some stronger and long-lasting benches with the donation made by John and Kathleen Harrison, the owners of the Nisa Local store.

The Nisa Local store has been raising money for its local community through the sale of specific products in store and has been able to donate the money raised with the help of the charity Making A Difference Locally (MADL). MADL is an independent registered charity (Charity Number 1123800) created in 2008 by Nisa with the intention of assisting more than 2,000 independent retailers supplied by Nisa throughout the UK raise money for their local communities. The charity works by a specified amount of the cost of certain products promoted in store being allocated to the retailer’s MADL charity fund. For example this month, for every box of Birds Eye Crispy Batter Fish Fingers purchased in store, 2p of the sale will go to MADL. Participating Nisa members are then able to choose local charities or good causes that they would like to donate to.

John Harrison, owner of the store, commented: “We are delighted to be able to contribute to the local school with the money we have raised in store through MADL. The children are really happy with their new benches and we will continue to support the school and other local good causes through the money we raise in store.”
