Nisa Local store donates to local charity

15/11/2011

The Nisa Local store located on Oxbridge Lane, Stockton-on-Tees, has donated £500 to the Friends of Ropner Park, a group that holds events and concerts at Ropner Park in Stockton-on-Tees as well as encouraging local people to use and enjoy the area. The donated money has enabled the group to purchase an outdoor PA system for music events which take place throughout the year.

In addition to this, the store has raised a further £550 for the local school, Oxbridge Primary School. The store has pledged to donate £1,000 to the school to contribute to the cost of sending the school children on an Outward Bound activity centre in Wales next March and once this amount has been raised this will be handed over to the school.

The Nisa Local, which was featured in the recent Nisa TV advertising, has been able to raise money for its local community through the sale of specific products in store with the help of the Making A Difference Locally (MADL) charity. MADL is an independent registered charity created in 2008 by Nisa with the intention of assisting more than 2,000 independent retailers supplied by Nisa throughout the UK raise money for their local communities. The charity works by a specified amount of the cost of certain products promoted in store being allocated to the retailer’s MADL charity fund. For example this period for every box of Birds Eye Crispy Batter Fish Fingers 2p of the sale will go to the retailer’s MADL fund.

John Stevenson, owner of the Nisa Local store, commented: “Both Oxbridge Primary School and Friends of Ropner Park are good causes that are local to our store and contribute to the community and we are delighted to be able to support these with the money that is raised through MADL.”
