The Proudfoot Group Donates Money to Diabetes UK Scarborough Voluntary Group

The Proudfoot Group of Caxton Way, Scarborough, has donated £1,000 to local charity Diabetes UK Scarborough Voluntary Group, which provides advice for people living with diabetes including recipe ideas as well as how to monitor your health and lead a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, the charity also funds valuable research into diabetes.

The Proudfoot Group has been raising money for its local community through the sale of specific products in store and has been able to donate the money raised for the charity with the help of Making A Difference – Locally (MADL). The MADL charity was formed in May 2008 with the intention of assisting more than 2,000 independent retailers throughout the UK with raising money for their local communities. The charity works by a specified amount of the cost of certain products promoted instore being allocated to the retailer’s MADL charity fund. For instance, this month for every Sanex Bath Creme 750ml purchased in store, 3p of the sale will go into the retailer’s MADL fund to be donated to their chosen charity.

The charity was created by Nisa-Today’s and Costcutter Supermarkets and the stores participating in the scheme are all members of Nisa-Today’s or independent retailers who are part of the Costcutter Supermarkets Group.

Valerie Aston, buying controller for The Proudfoot Group, commented: “We are delighted to donate £1,000 to the Diabetes UK Scarborough Voluntary Group as the work it does is remarkable and really does make a difference to the lives of local people who live with diabetes. The MADL charity enables us to help local charities and good causes, and allows us to become truly embedded in the local community.”
