Proudfoot supermarkets support Scarborough Ladies FC

Published on 17 June 2019

Scarborough Ladies FC have received a charitable donation from Proudfoot supermarkets this month to help towards new kit and training of new coaches.

The £1,000 donation will enable the club to purchase new kits for all its teams, and will also help to fund FA Level 1 coaching courses for two parents, to ensure all teams have fully qualified coaching cover at all times.

The family-run Proudfoot supermarket group supported the club through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, which raises funds from the sale of Heritage and Co-Op own label products, in addition to funds raised via the four supermarkets’ in-store collecting tins.

Scarborough Ladies FC, who have just been named North Riding FA “Grassroots Club of the Year 2019”, have almost 120 girls registered with the club and playing competitively in the City of York Girls Football League and the Yorkshire U18 Girls Football League. Ages range from 4 to 18 years old, with the club also planning to re-launch their Open Age team for the 2019/20 season.

Owen Willis from the club said: “Scarborough Ladies FC are very grateful to The Proudfoot Group and Making a Difference Locally for their continued support. Their generous donation will enable the club to continue to grow and thrive, offering sporting opportunity to girls of all ages and abilities in a safe and welcoming environment.”

Valerie Aston, director at the Proudfoot Group, added: “We are delighted to be able to use our Making a Difference Locally funds to support good causes in the area.

“We would like to thank our customers for their continued support, through the in-store collecting tins and purchases of selected products in our stores; as without their support these community donations would not be possible.”
