New Nisa initiative encourages colleagues to Make A Difference

Published on 30 July 2019

Nisa and its Making a Difference Locally charity are this month launching a new initiative encouraging colleagues to volunteer for a good cause in the local community.

The ‘A Day to Make a Difference’ scheme will offer Nisa employees the opportunity to spend either a full or half day volunteering with a local good cause, allowing them to develop new skills and gain volunteering experience, whilst helping charities and other good causes in the area.

This year, colleagues will have the opportunity to volunteer at one of three local causes: Scunthorpe General Hospital, Inclusive@AALPS, a support group for adults with autism; and The Forge Project, a local charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people.

The initiative is being trialled over the coming months with an initial 30 colleagues, and has been so well received that all available places were booked onto within just a few days.

Kate Carroll, Head of Charity at Nisa, said: “We know from our annual Charity Champion awards that many of the Nisa team already volunteer their time for good causes and that there was a real appetite from others to become more involved with such causes.

“As part of our commitment to supporting local communities, as well as supporting colleagues in their own personal development, we are delighted to launch ‘A Day to Make a Difference’ as it will enable everybody to play a more active role in the local community whilst providing them with valuable volunteering experience.

“We’re thrilled with the response from colleagues so far and hope the initiative will be of great benefit to all involved.”
