Gwilliams Scouts out local group to receive charity donation

Published on 12 September 2018

A local Scout group will benefit from a £150 boost from their local convenience store this month to help fund new equipment and upkeep of their Scout hut.

Edington retailer Gwilliams of Edington is supporting 1st Highbridge and Huntspill Scout Group with the donation, which will benefit local Scouts from 10-14 years old. The funds were raised through supplier Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, which raises money for community causes via in-store collecting tins and from customers purchasing selected products in-store.

Jo Hellier, Store Manager, commented: “The donation will benefit children who come from villages local to the store, and as a local store we are keen to promote any clubs and charities which actively help to promote getting children out and about and trying new activities, making friends and learning new skills, which they can apply to everyday life.

“The Scout group was suggested by Ian, our workshop mechanic, who is a 1st Highbridge and Huntspill Scout Leader, having begun in Cubs himself and going on to Scouts, Explorers and Young Leaders and knowing the difference this donation could make to the group.”

Gwilliams of Edington are currently raising money in-store for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
