Loco store supports education against crime

Published on 06 November 2015

A Loco store in Greater Manchester has supported the Police Community Clubs of Great Britain with a donation of £150. The store on Edenfield Rd, Rochdale donated the money through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity to educate children about the dangers of alcohol, drugs and tobacco.

The donation will go towards funding 25 learning packs for children in the local community. The publications include a “Barney and Echo” themed booklet which is a fun and interactive way to educate primary school children on key issues to promote good citizenship, through a variety of activities to reinforce and develop learning. The Police Community Clubs endeavour to provide these publications free of charge to children, parents, schools, hospitals, and local clubs.

The money was raised through Nisa’s Making A Difference Locally charity, from customers purchasing items from the own-label Heritage range and certain branded products in store. A percentage of the sale cost of these items then goes into a virtual fund to be donated to local charities and good causes of the store owners’ choice.

The Loco Rochdale store has been in the same family for 25 years, and is locally renowned for its wide selection of old fashioned sweets.

Store owner, James Oldham, said of their donation: “The Barney and Echo series of books are a great way to deliver a very important message to young children in the community."

To support the work of Making A Difference Locally and help good causes in your area, visit your local Nisa branch and look out for Making A Difference Locally promotions in-store.
