Record year for MADL!

Published on 12 January 2017

Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity saw a record year of generosity in 2016, donating the largest total amount over a year since its formation in 2008.

2016 saw over £1.4m donated to charities and good causes throughout the UK, with almost 2,000 donations made to community groups, charities, schools, sports clubs and more.

One charity which was delighted with a £400 donation from their local Nisa store in Splott was 2 Wish Upon a Star, who aim to improve bereavement support services in Wales.

Rhian Burke, founder of 2 Wish Upon a Star said: “We are very grateful for the kind donation made by the Nisa Local store. The funds raised will go towards helping those who are in need of immediate shock and trauma support and towards improving the bereavement facilities in local hospitals and Accident and Emergency departments.”

Donations made through Making a Difference Locally in 2016 funded a wide variety of items and projects, from football equipment for local youth teams, to community defibrillators and even a boat for Sea Cadets to learn to sail in.

Kate Carroll, Making a Difference Locally charity manager, commented: “We are delighted with the amount donated through Making a Difference Locally in 2016 as the donations made will make a huge difference to almost 2,000 causes across the UK, particularly those smaller charities and community groups which rely on public support.

“We are thrilled that last year was another record year for the charity, delivering some amazing, life-changing donations to local communities, which we hope to see even more of in 2017!”

The charity has been proudly supporting good causes since 2008 and to date has donated almost £7 million in total.
