Charitable store donates over £4k

Published on 15 December 2014

Shropshire's largest independently owned supermarket has recently donated a fantastic £4,040 to local charities and good causes.

Harry Tuffin’s in Craven Arms, Shropshire, is part of Delves & Co which is a member of Nisa, and has recently donated £1,600 to a local football team, church, village hall, youth club and community first aiders, through Nisa’s Making A Difference Locally charity.

The money is raised by customers purchasing specific products in store, with a percentage going into a virtual fund for the retailer to choose local charities or good causes to donate to.

The five local causes are all within 10 miles of the store and were the chosen beneficiaries as they all play an integral part in their community.

Harry Delves from the store said: “Our name above the door- Harry Tuffin’s- has always been known to be charitable and we try our best to support and promote the local area.

“This recent large donation is another great example of our helpful and giving ethos in order to improve and support our community.”

And if that isn’t enough charitable effort, seven staff at Harry Tuffin’s got muddy in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance charity by taking part in the Shropshire Mud Run.

They raised a fantastic £2,440 by completing the tough 10km woodland/obstacle challenge after plenty of blood, sweat and tears!

Harry added: “We did whatever we could to raise funds- we gained sponsorship through staff and supplier donations, collection pots on each till point and even a car boot sale.

“The amount we raised is enough to pay for one outing in the ambulance – so effectively we could have helped towards saving someone’s life- we are so proud!”
