J&H Local Making a Difference for local young people

Published on 23 October 2018

Sunderland’s Youth Almighty Project received a £300 donation from their local convenience store recently towards the services it provides to young people in the community.

The project, which is operated by local young people with the support of youth workers and volunteers, received the donation from J&H Local on Silksworth Terrace in Sunderland via Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, which raises funds in stores from the sale of Heritage own label products and selected branded items.

Youth Almighty mainly operates within the west part of Sunderland, running a variety of projects and programmes and offering one-to-one support to young people in the area.

Joanne Laverick, Project Manager at the Youth Almighty Project, said: “Youth Almighty Project would like to say a big thank you to J&H Local for their donation.

“The donation received will make a big difference. It will contribute towards ensuring our most vulnerable young people are not left isolated and that they have access to youth provision locally in an environment they are familiar with and feel safe.”

Derrick Bruce, Manager at J&H Local, added: “On behalf of J&H Local, we are proud to be able to support the local community and Youth Almighty.

“We are very much a community-focused store in the heart of Silksworth, Sunderland.

I am sure that the £300 donation will benefit the whole community, of which many are loyal customers who support their local Nisa store”.
