Store donates £2k to Royal Surrey Hospital Charity

Published on 15 December 2014

Customers at the Nisa Local store, at the Esso Service Station in Guildford, have helped to raise and donate a fantastic £2,000 for the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

The money culminated through Nisa’s Making A Difference Locally charity, which works by customers purchasing specific products in store and the money goes into a virtual fund for the retailer and shopper to jointly decide what local charity or good cause to donate to.

Owner of the Woodbridge Road store, Mayank Shah, presented the cheque to Tracey Irvine, Clinical Director of the Royal Surrey Hospital Breast Unit.

Mayank said: “We are overwhelmed to be able to present such a large amount to a worthy cause which will make a difference to the hospital and benefit Surrey and surrounding areas. It’s thanks to our customers for supporting us and making this donation possible.

“We hope to build a long term partnership with the hospital charity, so we can keep donating through Making A Difference Locally and are planning various exciting fundraising activities for staff and customers to take part in next year. We believe it’s important as a retailer to support your community as much as possible.”

The donation will be put towards life-saving cancer detecting equipment for use at the Royal Surrey.

Rachel Mason, corporate fundraiser from Royal Surrey County Hospital, said: “We are delighted that Nisa Guildford has chosen us as their charity to support and we look forward to partnering with Mr Shah and his team to develop various fundraising activities for staff and customers to enjoy and in turn support their local hospital charity”
