Taylors Makes a difference for local scout group

Published on 06 November 2015

The Taylor’s of Tickhill store in Doncaster donated £300 to their local Scout group last month. The store on Market Place, Tickhill donated the money to the Phoenix Explorer Scout Unit through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, and presented the cheque at the Scout and Guide headquarters in Tickhill last month.

The donation will be used towards the purchase of an overhead projector for the club, and is the third donation the store has made to the Scouts and Guides in Tickhill to date.

Making A Difference Locally (or MADL) is a registered charity that raises money from customers purchasing items from Nisa’s own-label Heritage range and a number of branded products in store. A percentage of the sale cost of these items then goes into a virtual fund to be donated to local charities and good causes of the member’s choice.

Taylor’s of Tickhill store owner, Christopher Taylor also joined the MADL Board of Trustees last month. He said of the store’s donation: “We are delighted to make donations to this worthy local good cause, as the Leaders are all volunteers and give their time freely to a large group of young people in the village. We have been very keen to make donations as often as possible to local good causes since MADL started. Purchasing expensive items of equipment is difficult for the Guides and Scouts, as they receive no income other than what they can raise in subscriptions and donations.”

The family owned store has traded from the same location in the centre of Tickhill since 1946. It operates as a traditional grocery store specialising in cheese, wine and cooked meats.

To support the work of Making A Difference Locally and help good causes in your area, visit your local Nisa branch and look out for Making A Difference Locally promotions in-store.
