The Proudfoot Group donate over £35,000 to local causes!

Published on 22 August 2016

Following its latest donation of £500 to Scarborough Ladies FC earlier this month, Scarborough retailer The Proudfoot Group has now donated over £35,000 to local causes to date!

The family-owned supermarket chain has supported around 100 charities and good causes in the area through Making a Difference Locally since the charity’s formation in 2008. Causes supported have ranged from local schools, sports clubs and community groups to charities, hospices and churches.

Valerie Aston, Buying and Distribution Controller for the Proudfoot Group, commented: “Our ethos is to help as many charities and good causes within our area as possible, with donations from £100 up to £1,000. The Making a Difference Locally initiative has opened our eyes to the work of the many groups and organisations within our area of the country who are doing invaluable work to help so many, and we are delighted to be able to support them through the Making a Difference Locally charity.”

One cause who recently benefitted from a donation from the Proudfoot Group were the Friends of South Cliff Gardens, who are dedicated to restoring and improving Scarborough’s historic gardens.

A spokesperson for the group commented: “
It's great that Proudfoots take such an interest in the local community, and wonderful that we were given this generous donation.

“Our special town is what we make it, and because of this cheque, the Friends of South Cliff Gardens will be able to "make a difference", which residents and visitors alike will notice and appreciate. So on behalf of the Friends, thank you again to the Proudfoot Group!”

Last month Proudfoot Newby was acknowledged for its positive impact on the community in Nisa’s Shop Local competition, which saw the store win £1,000 into its Making a Difference Locally fund. Earlier this year The Proudfoot Group were also awarded the title of ‘Making a Difference Locally Community Champion’ for their continued commitment to the local community.
