Loco store donates to elderly

Published on 18 August 2014

Customers of the Loco store on Market Street have raised a fantastic £199.11 for Whitworth Care Trust at the Sunnybank Day Centre. It is a lifeline for the older generation, and gives them the opportunity to participate in various activities including quizzes, crafts and sequence dancing, as well as meals on wheels and a drop in lunch club.

Through the stores membership with Nisa Retail, the money was raised through the Making A Difference Locally charity and customers purchasing specific products in store. The Loco store has also raised £500 over four years through customer collection boxes on the counter.

Store owners David and Dee Lees said: “We feel it is important to give something back to our customers and the community by regularly supporting various clubs and charity activities in the area."

“We hope customers keep supporting us so we can in return give something back!”

The money will be used for the centres arts and crafts, as well as games and activities for stimulating memory.
