Carshalton store supports three local causes with £4,000 in donations

Published on 31 March 2016

The Nisa Extra on Green Wrythe Lane, Carshalton is supporting three local causes with donations totalling £4,000 through Making a Difference Locally.

The store presented cheques of £1,000 to SERV Surrey and South London and £1,500 to St. Raphael’s Hospice earlier this month. A further £1,500 is due to be presented to Carshalton Athletic Under 13s Football Club over the coming weeks.

SERV (Service by Emergency Rider Volunteers) are a rapid response “blood bike” service comprising volunteer riders who transport urgently needed medical items such as blood, vaccines and donor breast milk to hospitals out of hours.

St. Raphael’s Hospice provides specialist medical and nursing care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses as well as providing support for their families.

The Nisa Extra store has been at the heart of their community since they were first established in the parade in 1972. They are actively involved with the community and regularly take part in fundraising activities for local and national charities. In addition to the frequent donations made by the store through Making a Difference Locally, the store also frequently donates to causes such as the Royal Marsden Hospital, the Poppy Appeal and every year staff give up their free time to dress up to raise money for Children In Need.

Store owner John Patel commented: “MADL is short for ‘Making a Difference Locally’ which is what we hope to achieve by donating the funds raised by our customers supporting our store.”
