Mosstodloch Service Station supports local school

Published on 19 October 2015

The Mosstodloch Service Station in Fochabers has made a substantial donation to a local school this month. The store, based on Glebe Road generously donated £480 to Mosstodloch Primary School to enable them to purchase new digital resources for the pupils.

The donation will fund 12 new Easi-Speak microphones, devices which students can use for interviewing and recording their work. The microphones are MP3 recorders which are great for building confidence in children and support many areas of the teaching curriculum, such as role play activities and outdoor exploration.

The money was raised through Nisa’s Making A Difference Locally charity, from customers purchasing items from the own-label Heritage range and certain branded products in store. A percentage of the sale cost of these items then goes into a virtual fund to be donated to local charities and good causes of the store owners’ choice.

Store owner Iain Aitkenhead said of the donation: “It is for us a great privilege to provide funds for a very good cause, especially something that will be used to benefit local children. Children in our community will use the Easi-speaks, and as the school is just across the road from our shop it’s difficult to think of a better cause.”

Mosstodloch Service Station is in the centre of Mosstodloch, a village just off the A96. It is one of three forecourts owned by the Aitkenhead family, who have operated the sites for over 60 years.

Another of Iain’s sites, Bishopmill Service Station based in Elgin, also donated £300 to the 2nd Elgin Seafield Scouts last month to raise funds for the voluntary run group.
