Clandeboye stores making a difference to the homeless

Published on 19 October 2015

The Clandeboye Stores Nisa Local in Bangor is supporting a charity for the homeless this month in a bid to give something back to their community. The store on Clandeboye Road has donated £200 to the Simon Community, which was presented to their fund raising coordinator Brian Shanks earlier this month.

The money was raised through Nisa’s Making A Difference Locally charity, from customers purchasing items from the own-label Heritage range and certain branded products in store. A percentage of the sale cost of these items then goes into a virtual fund to be donated to local charities and good causes of the store owners’ choice.

The donation will provide funding to be able to assist the homeless in Northern Island who may also suffer with health issues, and to provide food to those in need. The Simon Community offers support to the homeless across the UK, including the provision of emergency shelter, a soup run, advice on life skills and supported housing services.

Alan Crawford, Store Manager commented: “The Simon Community is a very worthwhile cause providing help to those in need, and with the current economic climate more people are needing the help of such charities.”

The store is situated on Clandeboye Road in Bangor and has been open since March 2014. The store believes in supporting local and establishing good relationships with the community, and use produce from local suppliers within their store.

To support the work of Making A Difference Locally and help good causes in your area, visit your local Nisa branch and look out for Making A Difference Locally promotions in-store.
