Scarborough retailer Proudly supporting local causes

Published on 03 December 2015

Scarborough-based independent retailer The Proudfoot Group are supporting a number of local causes with donations in the spirit of giving over the Christmas period. The family-run supermarket chain has donated a total of £1,400 to six local causes over the last two months through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity to give something back to the local community.

Making a Difference Locally, or MADL, raises money to be donated to good causes in the local area from the sale of items from Nisa’s own-label Heritage range and a number of branded products in store. A percentage of the sale cost of these items then goes into a virtual fund to be donated to local charities and good causes of the store owners’ choice.

Last month the Proudfoot Group presented cheques of £250 to the Scarborough Salvation Army Welcome Stop and the Scarborough and District Beaver Scouts, and will this month be  making donations to a further four local causes. The store will be donating £250 to an additional three causes; St. Nicholas Church in Genton, Macmillan Cancer Support and Animated Objects Community Arts, as well a further £150 to Animal House Wildlife Welfare.

The Proudfoot Group is an independent, family-run chain of supermarkets established in the Scarborough area, with stores in the Newby, Eastfield and Seamer districts. The company has won many awards for its service over the years, including the “Nisa Award for Excellence - Best Supermarket Store”, and a prestigious gold Yorkshire in Bloom award earlier this year.

To support the work of Making A Difference Locally and help good causes in your area, visit your local Nisa branch and look out for Making A Difference Locally promotions in-store.
