Proudfoot Group donates on Yorkshire Day

Published on 05 August 2014

The Proudfoot Group are proud to be regular fundraisers in their local community and are also proud to be from Yorkshire, as they recently made a fantastic £1,000 donation to a local hospice on Yorkshire Day.

The independently run stores located in Newby, Eastfield and Seamer districts raised the monies through their membership with Nisa and its Making A Difference Locally (MADL) charity.

Benefitting from their most recent contribution was Saint Catherine’s Hospice based in Scarborough, Throxenby Lane, and they were overwhelmed with the donation being presented on the special day of 1st August.

David Marshall, Saint Catherine’s Hospice director of fundraising development, said: “We are very grateful to Proudfoot’s for this very generous donation from their Making A Difference Locally fund, and as a Yorkshireman myself, I was particularly pleased to be receiving it on Yorkshire Day!

“Without the support of local businesses and individuals, Saint Catherine’s wouldn’t be able to offer the hospice services we provide, free of charge, to the communities that we serve.”

Kind donations like this from Proudfoot’s and their customers go towards raising £5.4 million the hospice needs each year to provide care for more than 2,000 people across a 1,600 square mile area.

Valerie Aston, from the Proudfoot Group, added: “We were delighted to make a donation for such an important cause on a significant and noteworthy day. As a retailer we believe it is important to give something back to our community and show our appreciation to our customers and the surrounding area.”
