Proudfoot’s acknowledged for ‘outstanding contribution to the local community’

Published on 11 April 2017

Scarborough-based retailer The Proudfoot Group were acknowledged with the award for ‘Outstanding contribution to the local community’ last week, for their continued exceptional dedication to local causes.

Each year at its annual exhibition and gala dinner, convenience retail specialist Nisa recognises members who have demonstrated examples of retailing excellence within the last year. To celebrate Nisa’s 40th anniversary, on the 4th April at NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire Nisa retailers, staff and suppliers were dazzled with a 70s-themed awards evening and gala dinner, which saw The Proudfoot Group acknowledged for their outstanding contribution to the local community; receiving the esteemed award and £2,500 to donate to local causes through the group’s Making a Difference Locally fund.

The Proudfoot Group has a long history as an independent retailer and prides itself on providing the best possible service to its customers and the area; and as such they are extremely active within, and engaged with, the local community.

Since the formation of Nisa’s charity, Making a Difference Locally in 2008, Proudfoot’s have donated a huge total of £35,800 to around 100 local causes through the charity, ranging from local schools, sports clubs and community groups to charities, hospices and churches.

In addition, the group also regularly holds fundraising activities and collections in its stores and raises money for local causes through the 5p carrier bag charge, which last year saw the RNLI Scarborough Lifeboat Station receive a cheque for £10,000 from the funds raised.

Valerie Aston, director at the Proudfoot Group, commented: “Our ethos is to help as many charities and good causes within our area as possible, with donations from £100 up to £1,000. The Making a Difference Locally initiative has opened our eyes to the work of the many groups and organisations within our area of the country who are doing invaluable work to help so many, and we are delighted to be able to support them through the Making a Difference Locally charity.”

To support the work of Making a Difference Locally and help good causes in your area, visit any of the Proudfoot supermarkets and look out for Heritage products and Making a Difference Locally promotions in-store.
