Record month for MADL as retailers donate over £100,000 to good causes!

Published on 16 September 2016

Last month saw a record amount donated through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, as Nisa retailers donated over £100,000 to good causes throughout the UK!

Throughout August, 85 donations were made to 54 unique causes including charities, schools, sports clubs and more, totalling a huge £108,173.

One retailer who supported their local community last month was Scarborough-based supermarket chain the Proudfoot Group, who proudly supported Scarborough Ladies FC with a Making a Difference Locally donation of £500, taking their total donated through the charity to date to over £35,000.

Valerie Aston, Buying and Distribution Controller for the Proudfoot Group, commented: “The Making a Difference Locally initiative has opened our eyes to the work of the many groups and organisations within our area of the country who are doing invaluable work to help so many, and we are delighted to be able to support them through the Making a Difference Locally charity.”

Other donations made through the charity included a £1,000 donation from the Nisa Local on Albion Street, Rotherhithe to Docklands Settlements Community Centre, a £900 donation from Nisa Local on Manor Way, Borehamwood to 1st Elstree & Borehamwood Scout Group, and a donation of £250 from the Nisa Extra at Llanwit Main Service Station in Pontyclun to Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, to name but a few.

Kate Carroll, Making a Difference Locally charity manager, commented: “We are delighted to announce that our independent retailers donated over £108,000 last month alone, and that so many charities and good causes across the UK will benefit, as many rely solely on donations such as these to continue the much-needed work they undertake.

“We will continue to drive the Making a Difference Locally charity in a number of ways including via social media, through marketing activity and competitions, to help us to support even more local causes and enable our members to further cement their position at the heart of their communities.”

Making a Difference Locally has been proudly supporting good causes since 2008 and to date has donated over £6 million in total, donating just under £1 million last year alone.
